Studio on 6th is about more than selling “art made fresh daily.” We are encouraging young artists and artists with special needs to bring their creations into the store where we display and sell items for them. These young entrepreneurs also get the opportunity to volunteer in the store and gain some real business knowledge. We currently display and sell artwork for SPARC, The Hope Institute, UCP, Lee School and several District 186 junior high and high schools.
We also display and sell artwork, books and other items to support other non-profit and charitable organizations such as Jubilee Farm http://jubileefarm.info/ and Downtown Springfield, Inc. http://www.downtownspringfield.org/. Be sure to check it out during your visit . . . and better yet, purchase something to support our community.
Not an artist? You are welcome to rest your feet in our Community Outreach Room where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and book or magazine. Did we mention that a portion of the proceeds sold in our Community Outreach Room are donated to a local charity each month? This helps encourage our young artists and others to give back to our community. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the excitement on a special needs’ artists face when they see their artwork for sale at our shop. It gives them a sense of worth in our community.
